This activity is well organized in 2 days Training (5-6 February 2018) at Salak Tower Hotel Bogor. The target of this activity was attended by 18 participants, consisting of 4 scholars from Lead (IPB) and 14 scholars from affiliates. Meanwhile, actual participants in this activity were 26 scholars, because scholars from Lead who participate in this activity are 12 scholars, while the affiliate researcher are 14 scholars. Participants both from lead and affiliates are scholars with minimum education of Masters Degree or who are being PhD Student. The method used in this activity is presentation method with question and answer session. After the presentation, we held a coaching clinic where participants can present their research paper and discussed by resource persons and other participants. In addition, we also held a live streaming training, when the resource person delivered materials, we broadcasted via online and participated by scholars from leads and affiliates in their places. Resource persons in this Training are: Prof. Erdoğan Memili, DVM, Ph. D Functional Genomics of Animal Reproduction and Development Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences Mississippi State University Materials: 1. Principles of Scientific Thinking and Innovative Research: “Developing Irresistible Ideas for Research” 2. Principles of Scientific Thinking and Innovative Research: “Sound Experimental Design” & “The Best Technical Approaches” 3. Principles of Scientific Thinking and Innovative Research: “ Data Analyses” & “Producing Knowledge” 4. Ethics of Research and Livestock Production “Ethical Conduct of Research” & “Bioethics of Agricultural Animal Production” Dr. rer. nat Hawis Madduppa, S. Pi., M. Si Head of Marine Biodiversity and Biosystematics Laboratory Dept. of Marine Science and Technology Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Materials: 1. Research Design: “How to Design a Scientific Project and Experimental Design” 2. Research Design: “Good Scientific Conduct” 3. Scientific Conduct and Presentations: “Scientific reading and writing” 4. Scientific Conduct and Presentations: “Poster and Oral Presentations” Participants/Scholars and phd students both from lead and affiliates had brought material presentation (ppt and poster) from their own research, and had been discussed with resource persons in coaching clinic session.
1. Participants understand the major research methodology techniques in quantitative and qualitative research. 2. Participants had ability to use reliable data collection, analyse and assess the weighting of data. 3. Participants had ability to ppply total quality principles in converting the research into a report format.
Some participants of live streaming training in affiliates complain about the internet network that is still not good in their places, so the delivery of training materials online is not maximized. Some schedules have to be delayed for a few minutes (15-30 minutes) due to the delivery of material beyond the time limit.
Some participants did the presentation of research results (PPT and Poster) directly during the caching clinic session. This method helps them to prepare presentations at conferences that they will attend.
Live streaming training will be enhanced in the future, both in terms of number of participants and facilities that support it. Coaching clinic session should be added more time, because it is very effective to train partcipants in writing and present scientific papers.
