Training

The objective of the training are to increase the capacity building of junior, senior lecturers, PhD Scholar from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Syiah Kuala University, in order to improve the ability in research planning, preparation of research results in the scientific paper that can be published in international journals, as well as capability of scientific reporting and presentations.

This activity is well organized in 3 days Training (July 30 – August 1, 2018) at Kyriad Muraya Hotel, Banda Aceh. The target of this activity was attended by minimum 18 participants, consisting of 18 scholars from affiliate of Syiah Kuala University. Meanwhile, actual participants in this activity were 25 scholars, which consists of 1 scholar from Bogor Agricultural University, 1 scholar from Brawijaya University and 23 scholars from Syiah Kuala University. Participants both from lead and affiliates are scholars with minimum education of Master Degree. The method used in this activity is presentation method with question and answer (discussion) session. After the presentation, we held a coaching clinic where participants can present their research paper and discussed by resource persons and other participants. Resource persons in this Training are: Prof. Erdoğan Memili, DVM, Ph. Sound Experimental Design and The Best Technical Approaches 5. Ethics of Research and Livestock Production Dr. Drh. Muhammad Agil. M. Sc. Agr. Lecturer at Division of Veterinary Reproduction, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Veterinary Clinic Reproduction and Pathology Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University Materials: 1. How to Design a Scientific Project and Experimental Design 2. Scientific Reporting and Presentation 3. Prof. Dr. Muchlisin Z. A, S. Pi, M. Sc. Dean of Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Syiah Kuala University Materials: 1. Writing in the animal sciences: A comprehensive resource for scientific communication 2. Research Methodology Participants/Scholars from affiliate (Syiah Kuala University) had brought material presentation from their own research, and had been discussed with resource persons in coaching clinic session.

Participants/scholars increase capability in writing and publishing scientific papers in high impact english language journals as well as sharping communication skills to become more effective science communicator.

There was still a delay in the time, caused by the long break time. Participants are still having difficulty in scientific writing, especially in word selection, and determination of journal target and audience.

By bringing their own manuscripts, researchers can immediately get inputs to improve their scientific writing Coaching clinic method is very effective to know the scientific mistakes of researchers, personally with resource person.

For the next training at Syiah Kuala University, we will create scientific writing group, monitored by resource person. We will combine training with research in field, so participants could get new experiences about research method directly.
