The event included two planned activities, i. e., Short Course on Research Methods and Short Course on Epidemiologic Methods. Because the two courses are different but very closely related, and were developed by one US affiliate faculty (Dr Molly Lamb), we decided to hold them together as one event. CCR training manager (Dr Panji Hadisoemarto) and one FMUP scholar (Dr Kurnia Wahyudi) worked closely with Dr Lamb in the delivery of the lectures. In practice, the five-day activity was divided in morning and afternoon sessions, where course materials for Epidemiologic Methods and Research Methods were delivered, respectively. The courses were targeted mainly at scholars at CCR-affiliated university as a pre-study preparation; we also targeted FMUP faculties and graduate students to benefit from the short courses. All scholars from university affiliates (a total of seven individuals) attended the the short courses fully, in addition to 19 other participants from FMUP.
The primary outcome from the activities were an increase in participants' knowledge in Research Methods and Epidemiologic Methods, as well as the development of course materials for future use by CCR. At the end of the activities, participants were asked to self-rate their increase in knowledge and reported that the courses were useful and their knowledge in the methods were increased. Course materials adopted from UC Denver courses were made available for future use by CCR.
The length of activity (five days) and, on the other hand, on-campus location of activity, were the main weakness of the activity. Because the most of the participants came from FMUP, many of them had to leave some parts of the courses to perform other duties. As it was not possible to prevent them from their duties, we noted these for future considerations.
It may be necessary to increase participation rate that the length of activity should be shortened and/or be held outside of campus. The vast majority of the participants expressed satisfaction toward the course. A small number of participants were concerned about the pace of the courses and the methods by which the courses were delivered (i. e., lectures). More interactive and attractive methods (e. g., video) will be considered in the future.
As a follow up for the course, we will translate the course materials into Bahasa Indonesia and use them as the core materials for the development of Massive Open Online Course.

We did not conduct pre- or post-tests for the course due to time consideration (i. e., we decided to provide more materials as opposed to taking the time for tests). The participants, however, did several in class practices in which they were actively involved.
