Pelatihan Protokol Burden of Acute Respiratory Infection in Hospitalized Adult and Children

We invite CCR-ARI field doctors and all treating doctors from Bandung network hospitals to participate in this training. Treating doctors were specifically: Pediatric, Internist and Radiologist from RSHS; and Pediatric, Internist and General Practitioner from both RSUD Soreang and Al Ihsan. Resource Persons were those who involved as CCR-ARI scholars, management and Principal Investigator. The training was opened by Prof. Johanes Mose as the coordinator of Burden of Disease study, followed by introduction to the study and initial discussion led by Prof Cissy B. Kartasasmita. Each Research Person presented about respiratory infections that correspond with their respective area of expertise (Internal Medicine, Pediatric, Obstetry and Gynecology, Geriatric Medicine and Economics). UNPAD team have also presented about protocols and questionnaires will be used during the study, as well as data entry system using REDCap Mobile application. On the last day, participants were taken to RSHS to try REDCap data entry from patients’ medical records.

From the discussion, we got several input in implementing the study in local hospital (RSUD Al Ihsan and RSUD Soreang) such as: when to get inform consent for the study, additional fee to perform such test (eg. Spirometry), who will do the data entry, when to perform swab test, reward for patients, and who will do sample delivery.

Previously, we count on GPs in hospital for patient data entry which is apparently not feasible due to the vast number of patient they have to serve daily. Thus, the GP should have a good communication with our field doctor to keep informing when their respective hospital received patient that match our study criteria, and fill the Medical Record completely. Then our field doctor will do the rest data entry on REDCap. Another concern came up was about the fee in performing such test, especially Spirometry, which is not automatically perform in local hospital. Considering this, we will list the needed test and check the fee on each hospital and recalculate the budget.

From the first protocol training, we should expect any adjustment for research flow in affiliate sites, that depends on local situation. Research trial will be conducted in a month (starts on early March) prior to protocol training for affiliates, so we could identify such adjustment needed on the research flow.

We will conduct research trial in RSHS for a month on this March to consider such things that probably need adjustment when applied in network hospital, as well as testing the instrument validation and waiting for the signed aggrement and research permit from respective Bandung network hospitals.
